Static Private Security officers generally stay in one place to perform his duties, such as: gate house guard, entrance guard, etc. These officers get familiar with the people they see on a daily basis and often monitor security camera feeds and alarm systems. A patrolling security officer is very familiar with the area they patrol. They often patrol a set geographical area either on foot or in a car. These officers can catch and detain criminal suspects, answer calls from people needing assistance, and even issue traffic citations.

Another area that private security is widely utilized in is the gaming community. Every casino employs a vast number of private security personnel to protect their customers, dealers, employees, property, money, and equipment. Gaming surveillance officers can be located within numerous places inside of a casino including: surveillance and video rooms, casino floor, vaults, cashier stations, entrances, and much more.
