Jamey Perkins
Writer and Website Maintenance
Founder of PublicSafetyDegrees.com
Jamey was born in 1970, and grew up in very rural communities for most of his life. He has always enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, and anything having to do with “the great outdoors”. He has been married since 1989 to his high school sweetheart, and has one daughter, who is about to enter college.
Jamey was an EMT and Paramedic for nearly 17 years. He worked for both private and municipality run ambulance services, providing emergency and convalescent care. For the last year of his Paramedic career, he worked for a private company that was contracted by the United States Department of Defense at a chemical weapons demilitarization facility. In that capacity, he was responsible for daily monitoring of other employees within the compound, and for being prepared to enter contaminated environments to rescue personnel.
Currently, Jamey is the owner of Site Expressions, as well as the founder and primary contributing writer for PublicSafetyDegrees.com. He dedicates many hours to this site, and uses his complex and extensive background in Public Safety as a basis for his work on the site.
Jamey has been intrigued with public service all of his life. Even as a child, he dreamed of working in a Public Safety capacity. Thoughts of becoming a fireman, EMT, or police officer were at the forefront of his goals, and are also what led him to seek a career in EMS. He even remarked that he and his cousin use to pretend they were Johnny and Roy, the firefighter/paramedics from the show Emergency in the 1970’s.
He has a deep passion for public service and everyone working in that capacity. He has a desire to help people do the jobs that public servants do, and also to help public servants find career advancement opportunities through education.
